Having bought their 1950s semi, in Chester, as a renovation project, Beth and James Dering were under no illusion as to the work required to create their ideal home. And first on their to-do list was the tired, dated kitchen. ‘Although the kitchen had been extended at some point, it still remained dark and dingy,’ explains Beth. ‘So our solution was to knock through to the adjoining dining room, in order to create one large, sociable space and also take advantage of the existing patio doors leading into the garden.’
Thanks to the new open-plan layout, the couple now have a contemporary and colourful, light-filled space in which to cook, eat and socialise
Good idea!
