New research by Barratt Homes has revealed that children rule the roost in British homes, with 55% having free run of the whole house, including their parents’ bedroom and the ‘posh’ lounge. To enable children to have more dedicated space in the home, one in five adults have forgone a dining room, and 15% have sacrificed space which would otherwise be used to store and use fitness equipment. 26% of children in today’s homes are lucky enough to have a play room, while 12% even have their own computer room.
