Our style is quirky, vintage, with a Scandinavian twist

The grey wall is decorated with a selection of mirrors. The lamp base is from Argos, and the shade from Portaromana. The blanket cupboard from Ikea is painted with Annie Sloan yellow chalk paint. Also adding to the feel of the house is the Dutch by Design tea set

Keen to buy their first home together – having rented for some time – Naomi Dawson and her partner Matt Wilson were absolutely thrilled when they first spied their now home – an end of terrace ex-council house. ‘This house really was in the perfect location for us, close to Farnham town centre and the local medieval deer park which is great for walks right on our door step,’ explains Naomi. ‘We both grew up in Farnham and wanted to ideally buy here to be close to family and friends. We saw it in January 2013 and moved in two months later so it was pretty quick from start to finish!’

Although generally clean and tidy the ex-council property was in need of modernisation. ‘The house was a bit dated and not to our taste – it really just needed some love and TLC,’ smiles Naomi. Each room needed decorating and the old brown stripy carpets throughout needed replacing too. ‘The room we decorated first was the living room as the thinking behind this was, at the end of the day when we were tired from doing the house up, at least there would be one room in the house where everything was finished and we could relax,’ explains Naomi. ‘Plus it’s the main room that our friends and family would see so it was nice that it was looking good.’
