Try this chicken waldorf and you’ll see salads in a new light

Ina Garten’s chicken & spinach waldorf salad

SERVES 6-8. HANDS-ON TIME 15 MIN,

OVEN TIME 35-40 MIN

There’s a restaurant in East Hampton, New York, called the East Hampton Grill, and whenever I go I order their amazing chicken and spinach waldorf salad. I’ve tested and retested this so many times – not because it wasn’t perfect, but because we wanted to eat it for lunch! INA GARTEN

INA’S TIP

For soft-boiled eggs, put room-temperature eggs in a medium saucepan of boiling water, lower the heat, then simmer for exactly 6 minutes. Remove and run under cold water to stop them cooking further, then peel. Marcona almonds are a Spanish variety with a high oil content, which gives them their distinctive flavour.
