Delivery Magazine  |  Issue 44 October - November 2012

This month we focus on some of the new developments taking place in the light truck market with a first drive feature on the Chinese entrant into this segment from JAC. It competes head to head against the Japanese manufacturers that have many additional years of experience behind them. How the newcomer stands up to our requirements will be an interesting journey.

Holden’s Colorado features on our cover and in our two features we compare the 2WD version with the 4WD alternative. You’ll read about how we find that Holden’s marketers need further education before they spec’ up a vehicle on looks rather than performance. It’s a good vehicle but it could be better with some simple forethought.

Hyundai’s iMAX people mover is of course based on the highly popular iLoad semi bonneted van. It’s been a real success story for this Korean manufacturer and we bring you all the details on the latest upgrades that improve an already good vehicle.

Fiat’s future now takes on a change for the better in this country with a totally new distribution network established by the manufacturer itself rather than through the use of an independent importer as happened in the past. Stand by for some renewed activity as Fiat Commercial comes to grips with its own marketing objectives.

TNT Express has always illustrated its ability to keep at the forefront of transport technology but should be applauded for keeping up the interest of its courier drivers by developing a global competition. Delivery joined in the contest and became a courier for a day as we competed against the nation’s best. We found they were better and we still have a lot to learn about how to be a good courier driver. The winner heads off to Europe for a final contest.

New products from Hino include an automated manual shift that we preview in this issue and we move down a notch to smaller people movers as we revisit the Honda Odyssey.
