Bamboo Capital supports off-grid energy in Africa

Africa and Asia

An equity capital platform has been launched with the goal of improving access to energy in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

The BEAM platform catalyses funding for distributed businesses, which is expected to wean developing countries off expensive grid infrastructure. Behind the platform is private equity firm Bamboo Capital Partners and next generation utility company BBOXX. By deploying US$50 million in equity to several energy data service firms, the partners hope to grow subsequent debt capital financing for joint ventures and co-investments in off-grid consumer energy projects.
