WE MUST STAND SIDE BY SIDE

Pride season is almost over. At Pride In London this year, Stonewall marched with hundreds of young people. For many, it was their first Pride. Some were excited, some scared, others hoping to meet new friends. It took me back to being 15 and realising I was a lesbian. The options to meet other women in 1995 were limited. I went to one of the few gay bars in Cardiff, learnt to smoke and drink lager and (somewhat naively) thought everyone took me for an 18-year-old. I didn’t meet The One, though I really, really wanted to.
