It all started in December last year. I received the following response on a social media platform after I commented on someone’s racist post: “Why have you got to get racist when someone’s opinion differs to yours? Would it be ok if I use your race against you? No it certainly wouldn’t.”
I often think about resilience, but also about how much someone can endure before they break down. A breakdown doesn’t have to be negative; it’s actually often after reaching a lower point in your life that you start building the tolerance to then be able to fight back. In my case, I woke up one morning and decided I had had enough. Even if this world was not fully ready for a structural change, I was starting to believe it was worth giving it a go.
