After a week spent entirely in the company of other lesbians, the caring hotel staff and allies of the “Ladies of Olivia”, as we are known, walking back into reality is always a bit of a shock. The days of feeling free to hold hands, of not having to come out to a single person, of meeting like-minded people and sharing stories and feeling understood and just being you, become a happy memory. But it is a memory so colourful and vivid that you can keep it in your mind’s eye and never quite lose sight of it.
