Person of the Month Marja-Lewis Ryan

Here at DIVA HQ, we’re counting down the sapphic seconds until The L Word: Generation Q bursts on to screens on 8 December. Following in Ilene Chaiken’s power-lesbian footsteps as showrunner is playwright and screenwriter Marja-Lewis Ryan, known for the 2010 film The Four-Faced Liar. The pressure is on to helm a revival that keeps the programme’s die-hard fans happy and addresses criticisms levelled at the original series. Luckily, it looks like Marja, who’s just as much of an L Word superfan as you are, is up to the task. She told EW, “My pitch was take what the show was and make it a lot more inclusive”. Judging by the sizzling trailer, The L Word 2.0 is wonderfully diverse, and, you’ll be glad to hear, still as horny as ever. Loving your work, Marja! Keep your peepers peeled for more L Word goodness in next month’s DIVA.
