PAGE 18: ‘Closer inspection – the material of the “balaclava” is like sickly pale flesh, almost white, gleaming wetly. It is thinly seamed with what look like veins – as if the material is fashioned out of the veiny white of an eyeball. Beneath this, facial features shift and move.
