AUDIO DRAMA
It seemed like Jago and Litefoot were unstoppable. Although the intrepid Victorian investigators only appeared in one TV serial, 1977’s The Talons of Weng Chiang, a new era began in 2009 when actors Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter reprised the roles in a Big Finish audio drama. Its success led to reunions with the Fourth Doctor, new adventures with the Sixth, Tenth, and Eleventh, and – most notably – an eponymous spin-off. Scripts for the 14th season of Jago & Litefoot had just been completed when Trevor passed away last July.
“Although we’d known for many years that Trevor was ill, his death left everyone who worked on Jago & Litefoot reeling,” says producer David Richardson. “There was no talk of continuing – in fact, when I saw Christopher at the funeral, we both quietly agreed that we couldn’t continue. We wouldn’t recast Litefoot, and we wouldn’t have Jago going it alone.”
