Born to fight – Jenny arms herself for war with the Hath in The Doctor’s Daughter.
In The Doctor’s Daughter, Jenny emerged as an adult a matter of seconds after she was created. That meant her portrayal had some limitations.
“She was a lovely character to play, but she wasn’t very fully formed,” says Georgia. “At the beginning of the episode, she was effectively a newborn child. We left her just as her personality might have begun to grow.” Part of Georgia’s role as associate producer on the new Jenny series was deciding the type of character she would become. “I’m not involved in the stories particularly, but I wanted to be involved in her creation and her personality,” she explains. “The one thing I kept saying was, ‘Please make it funny!’ If there’s a situation that’s a little bit scary, she’ll go straight to that – her defence mechanism is cracking a joke at an inappropriate moment.
