#17: Meglos Meglos (1980)
Gronda, gronda! Welcome, gentlemen and lady Earthlings, welcome. As you are no doubt aware, I am Meglos, last of the Zolfa-Thurans, a race of hyper-intelligent cacti cactuses cacti xerophytes. You will no doubt also know me as the greatest of all the Doctor’s foes, for, while opponents such as the Daleks and the Master have been defeated on repeated occasions, I have only been defeated the once – and only then by the narrowest of margins! Had it not been for the Doctor’s interference and the incompetence of General Grugger and his band of half-witted fortune-hunters, and a last-minute mix-up over coats, victory would have been assured and control of the galaxy, of the universe, would have been mine, all mine!
