TALKING BOOK
For April’s Short Trips release, writer Paul Ebbs was assigned the line-up from Doctor Who’s 1967-68 season: the Second Doctor, Jamie and Victoria. “Season Five is probably one of my favourite all-time seasons,” says Paul. “It’s got my favourite Patrick Troughton story in it, Fury from the Deep, and a Doctor who is so expressive and easy to write for.”
Year of the Drex Olympics takes the trio to the Venusian city of Drex, where the TARDIS is stolen, turning up as third prize in the Drexian Games. “The brief was to set it on Venus during an Olympics where the Doctor had to perform badly to win back the TARDIS,” Paul explains. “The Drex Olympics themselves are very much like the Olympiad that we have here on Earth – they’re about peace, they’re about bringing regions together.”
