After the shock news that Christopher Eccleston was leaving after only one season, the future of the show seemed uncertain again. Enter David Tennant – and the Doctor was immediately there: the chutzpah, the chaotic good, the seat-ofyour-pants breathlessness, the sheer fun. But there were twists in the tail of The Christmas Invasion, with the Doctor finishing off the Sycorax without a backward glance and bringing down a Prime Minister with six words.
