WELCOME

Unbelievable! It only seems like a couple of months ago since I remember Tom Spilsbury, Peter Ware, and Richard Atkinson tearing out their hair trying to get everything ready for issue 500, and now here we are another hundred issues on, doing exactly the same thing. This time round, Richard, Mike Jones and myself were kindly invited up to Cardiff to help us create this landmark issue on the set of the TARDIS itself – thanks so much to everyone at the BBC and Bad Wolf Studios for making it happen.

It’s a wonder we got anything done at all when we journeyed over to Cardiff. I mean, the TARDIS and every single issue of DWM ever… we were like kids on a sleepover, when we weren’t checking out the Doctor’s jukebox or flipping switches we were browsing through some of our favourite back issues. And wow! Those issues really do conjure up memories. We all had our favourite moments and favourite covers to remember, and having them all in one place, carpeting the TARDIS was a joy. It’s funny, but looking at those covers actually brings you back in time to when they came out and when you first saw them. What a journey. For the few of you lucky enough… or obsessed enough, depending on your point of view, to have every issue, I heartily recommend spreading them out across the floor and diving in. It’s quite an experience, although it takes longer than you think to clear them away again, so make sure you’re not on a deadline or you’ll be letting yourself in for a bucketload of stress.
