SUTEKH’S GIFT
▶ MARK FLETCHER, EMAIL
Mark Fletcher with his signed Sutekh photo.
I have a personal connection to Sutekh. I was born when Pyramids of Mars was on. Years later, my Mum got me the VHS for my birthday and I watched it, only later finding out it was first transmitted on my birthday. Then there’s the icing on the cake…
I’m a manager for Kwik-Fit. In 2022, I helped a lady who had a flat tyre. She told me her husband was an actor and that he did a classic Doctor Who and came back to voice a different character. I went all fan boy and said, “Your husband is Sutekh!” She was surprised I worked it out that quickly (I’m sure other fans would have too). A week later she returned with a signed Sutekh poster, thanking me for helping, from Gabriel Woolf. I couldn’t believe it.
It seriously made my day.

It’s such a joy to hear Gabriel Woolf talk about his roots in performative radio reading and think about the audios he’s done in the past as Sutekh – for Big Finish and the Faction Paradox audio dramas especially. It’s a joy to revisit his impeccable voicework.

Gabriel Woolf.
I loved the Gabriel Woolf interview in the last DWM. Someday I would love to work at Wolf Studios with talented people like him. It is so inspirational! I thought his performance in Empire of Death was fantastic.
