T roilus and Cressida influenced The Myth Makers’ casting, too – it can’t be coincidence that guest star Max Adrian, playing Priam, had made his name in different productions of the same play. In 1938, he played Cressida’s disgusting uncle Pandarus in a much-noted moderndress staging at the Westminster Theatre, then in 1960 he reprised the role in Peter Hall’s Stratfordupon-Avon production, which transferred to the Aldwych Theatre two years later.
