Steady vision
Showing two episodes each week, the early 1980s Doctor Who seasons spanned just three months. Without seasonal variations, the first half of the decade consequently had the most consistent audiences of the show’s original run. This is particularly true for Season 20, with all but one episode attracting between six and eight million viewers. However, this was down some two million viewers from Peter Davison’s debut season. One reason was the recent launch of Channel 4, which expanded the choice of viewing.
