Asked what led to that meeting, Donna remembers the choice that saw her turn left in her car to start her job at HC Clements… but what if she turned right? An unseen creature crawls onto Donna’s back, to the fortune teller’s delight: “Turn right and never meet that man. Turn right and change the world!” Now working for Jival Chowdry, Donna is on a Christmas Eve girls’ night out when a star appears over London, attacking the city. Donna watches the star being destroyed, but is confused when her friend Alice says there’s something on her back. Running off, Donna overhears a UNIT soldier reporting the death of a man called the Doctor, then meets a young woman who is shocked at this Doctor’s demise.

Sacked from her job, Donna learns of a disaster at the Royal Hope Hospital prior to encountering the young woman again, who tells her to be out of London next Christmas. Thanks to a raffle ticket, Donna, Sylvia and Wilf stay in a posh hotel the following Christmas, escaping the horrors caused by a spaceship replica of the Titanic crash-landing on London.
