ON THE DISTANT FUTURE, THE EARTH IS DYING AND, under the command of the United Earth Colonisation Team, rescue ships have left the failing planet. After landing 20 light years from Earth, a Class 5 Colony Cruiser becomes the focal point for a city built from the humans’ microbot workforce, the Vardies. While the majority of the colonists remain in suspended animation, construction, farming and the securing of essential resources is overseen by a small team of humans. Sophisticated Emojibots monitor the mood of these ‘shepherds’ to make sure their spirits remain high.
