“IT'S TWO WEEKS of the year where you’re not supposed to be an asshole.” So says legendary Evil Dead actor Bruce Campbell of the Christmas period. “It’s a yearly reminder to be less dickish.” The reason Empire is discussing Yuletide with a man best known for severing his own hand with a chainsaw is that Campbell is swapping slaughter for sleigh bells this year, heading up festive Hallmark movie My Southern Family Christmas. We asked the cult star to talk us through a typical holiday season in the Campbell household.
THE MUSIC
“I went through a big curmudgeon phase with Christmas. There was a period where I didn’t want to hear Christmas music. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra: get that shit off the air! But a few years ago, my wife and I were dragged kicking and screaming to an Andy Williams Christmas show, and we walked out singing, so ready for the holidays! So, maybe we’ll have a little jazzy Christmas music this year.”
“Who you calling a Grinch?”
