In The Deep House , the French team of Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury deliver on a terrific premise — an underwater haunted house. At the bottom of a lake is a perfectly preserved mansion, which proves a tempting subject for diving paranormal vloggers James Jagger and Camille Rowe. Almost in real time, with their air-supply running out, the duo are trapped in the submerged house and bothered by the physical presences of former owners who ran a Satanic torture cult. As if mashing up 47 Meters Down with Grave Encounters, it works up a feeling of dread even as the jump-scares keep floating into frame.
