Brexit and the Fut

It happened. 52% of those who voted decided that the UK’s future was outside of the EU. New UK Prime Minister Theresa May has stated that “Brexit Means Brexit” (whatever that, in itself, may mean) and has set up multiple government departments to do a lot of navel gazing to try and figure out what Brexit does truly mean.

All those discussions will come to some end result as time goes on. However, it does leave the rest of us having to deal with day-to-day life. For those responsible for IT, what does this interim Brexit limbo mean to them?

Firstly – costs. The UK is not a massive IT equipment manufacturer, and most IT equipment has to be imported. The Pound has fallen by 12.7% against the Dollar, and by 11.4% against the Euro (as of August 19th). Already, Dell, Lenovo and many others have upped their prices by between 10 and 15%; we can expect all other hardware companies to do the same.
