The airline has halved the number of suites in its new-look A380s from 12 to six, though these have almost doubled in size to 50sq ft each. Housed at the front of the upper deck, they are furnished with a separate full-flat bed and a Poltrona Frau leather swivel chair.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has moved to reaffirm its position as one of the world’s leading carriers with the launch of muchanticipated new cabin products for its Airbus A380s. The programme – part of a wider, three-year strategy to develop the carrier’s brand – marks the culmination of $850m of investment, four years of development and will be rolled out across the carrier’s 19-strong A380 fleet.
Interest in the new offerings has been so high that leaked images of the fit-out appeared online just hours before the official unveiling at the Singapore Convention Centre on November 2. This did little to dampen the ‘Disneyesque’ launch, featuring an elaborate performance from a choir made up of cabin crew. They regaled the audience with a song extolling the virtues of comfort, space and excellence as the new cabin fits were revealed from behind a giant screen.
