PROFESSIONAL GLOBETROTTER LIZ CAIRNS ON FINDING HER DREAM JOB IN TRAVEL

“It’s gone by so fast!” Liz tells us when we ask about her time at international travel agency, Flight Centre, where she’s worked for the past nine years. After climbing her way up the ranks, Liz is now head of partnerships and product marketing, but is a job in the travel industry as dreamy as it (most definitely) sounds? And what’s been her experience of being out at work?
DIVA: Was working in the travel industry always the aim for you?
LIZ CAIRNS: I have such a passion for travel that it was always the industry that was the most attractive to me. Best of all, I’ve been fortunate to have spent the vast majority of my career within this space and to have experienced a variety of roles.
Describe an average day at Flight Centre in three words.
Fast-paced, dynamic, exciting.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I work with some amazing tourist boards and airline partners and I love being able to build strong working relationships.
And the worst?
Choosing my own holiday destination when there are so many incredible places recommended to me.
