About History Bookazine  |  Heroes of WWII 1st edition
When we consider the heroes of World War II, it’s often ‘The Few’ that spring to mind. But beside the brave pilots of the Battle of Britain stood many more heroes, some more well known than others. Infantry, navy, and special forces all had a role to play too, and so did the ground crews, medics and technical specialists who supported them. Spies, code breakers and tacticians gave the armed forces the information they needed to effectively combat the Axis powers and defend against them. They were aided by resistance operatives who smuggled agents and civilians to safety, gathered valuable intelligence, and engaged in guerilla warfare behind enemy lines. These brave men and women, and many more, were all heroes of World War II, and over the following pages we explore some of their stories of courage, valour, and fortitude.
