LOW-COST GIANT Wizz Air has confirmed it will suspend base operations and dramatically reduce its flight schedule at Cardiff Airport this winter.
In response to what it describes as the “challenging macro-economic environment”, from September 19, the Hungarian carrier will temporarily halt most operations and stop services to destinations including Alicante, Corfu, Heraklion, Faro, Larnaca, Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Tenerife. Despite the sweeping cuts, Wizz says it will continue to fly from the Welsh capital, with new winter season flights launching on October 30, to Milan and Bucharest.
