IT'S TIME TIME TO PLANT ALLIUMS
Alliums, or ornamental onions, are just the thing to bring colour, structure and interest to your garden from spring through to late summer. They come in all sizes, from the low growing purple or white-flowered Allium karataviense through ‘Gladiator’, a whopper at 5ft (1.5m) tall. most are hardy and trouble-free, and some will seed gently around, while many increase by means of small bulbs or offsets growing at their roots. From now through to late October is the time to buy and plant your allium bulbs and it’s worth stopping to consider which are best for your garden.
