When you picture your dream home, what do you see? For this family of five, it was a modern-style farmhouse in a suburban neighborhood of Indianapolis, Indiana. Although the home sits in a suburban, rather than rural, area, the neighborhood is quiet and within view of a picturesque horse pasture. This makes it a perfect location for a contemporary farmhouse. Designer Whittney Parkinson of Whittney Parkinson Design drew from both a modern lifestyle and traditional farmhouse environment when designing this family’s dream home.
The exterior of the home displays the mix of modern and rustic that exists on the interior. The traditional shiplap and shuttered windows pair perfectly with contrasting white, neutral and black details.
