Lone Star Treasure

Displaying décor that’s equal parts streamlined and comfortable, this Austin, Texas, home invites guests to settle in and stay awhile.
Salvaged timbers live out a second act as ceiling trusses, creating rustic ambiance. They pair lawlessly with the custom Lueders limestone surround and hearth, a material that mirrors the limestone exterior.

When designs home, that their a home needs family oftentimes, a custom suits and will equally serve the families who will inhabit that home in the future. This certainly rings true in this Austin, Texas, home, in which the love and warmth from the first family who lived here can still be felt in the walls and rafters. Thoughtfully designed by Sarah Bullock McIntyre, AIA, the home, which was completed in November 2015, is now for sale and awaits another family to bring joy to each and every room.

A straightforward staircase takes a distinctive turn with its showstopping light ixture—a ind from Etsy. They used steel and white oak to craft the stairs and railings.

Situated on an acre and a half on Lake Austin, the 4,154 square-foot structure is the epitome of modern farmhouse style. It’s friendly and free-spirited, comfortable and intentional, current-day and vintageinspired. Located in a West Austin neighborhood called Cuernavaca, the vibe of the area is reflected in the home. Sarah describes the atmosphere as “quite diverse, with a mix of housing styles and sizes,” adding, “It’s a bit quirky in that way, and very Austin!”
