The story of FNG Precision Coatings started out with a vision from the owner, Sawyer Phelps, after his six years of active duty with U.S. Navy Seabees. Phelps was a combat engineer where he worked to provide electrical power to numerous outposts in our country’s theaters of war.
Transitioning out of the Navy in 2015, Phelps thought about how he was going to enter into a productive role in civilian life and had to come up with some way to support his family. Like many of our veterans, Phelps held many talents he learned from his time in the service, specii cally, he brought many learned talents from the Seabees with him. One of his l airs was in graphic design.
Putting his talent to the test, Phelps ultimately decided to try his hand at painting his graphics on weapons. He was stationed in Southern California and lived near several different paintball i elds. As a result, he first decided to paint a couple of paintball guns and take them to a local i eld to see if they gathered interest. With his newly painted weapons, Sawyer showed them off and generated quite a buzz among the local paintballers.
