We no longer need two dealer trade bodies

MADAM – Re Jeremy Taylor’s letter headlined ‘Trade bodies should merge’ (ATG No 2278), I have seen a similar situation in many industries where, because of geographical, personal or political reasons, trade bodies are split into a number of similar or overlapping parts or groups.

Despite all of the pleasant ‘getting to know you talks’, little or nothing concrete happens, until the money runs out. Then it is often a matter of saving what’s left and ‘banging heads’ together.

I wait to see!
