Among the works that David Tunick, a longstanding MDNY exhibitor, will be showing this year at his gallery on East 69th Street is this large 18 x 14in (45.5 x 35.5 cm) watercolour over pencil by John Robert Cozens. It is inscribed Cypress in the Garden of the Franciscans near eight hundred years old.
The sketch, documenting a marvel of the grand tour in Salerno, was made in 1782, shortly after the departure for Marseilles of Cozen’s patron, William Beckford. It will be priced in the modest six-figure range.
