This mammoth tusk with 19th century carving goes under the hammer at Humbert & Ellis Auctioneers of Whittlebury in Towcester on April 5.
According to the vendor, who purchased it in New York in 2009 for a six-figure sum, the tusk was discovered in Siberia in the middle of the 19th century and sent to a northern province in China bordering Mongolia to be carved.
