Standing stone at Machrie Moor, Arran.
LIKE other standing stones across Scotland, it is not known just how, or why, this stone at Machrie Moor, Arran, was erected.
What is clear, however, is that it and the other stones nearby were erected to be seen from the widest possible area. It was also done at a time when the land was much drier than it is now.
