SADLY, after a fairly long but welllived spell of illness, Danny Kennedy died on August 17.
He will be greatly missed, but leaves a significant legacy in Mid Argyll. Danny and his other half, Jean, raised three children by the Crinan Canal – two of whom are still in the area, with their partners and growing children.
From being a painter and decorator for the canal from the mid 1970s, Danny was encouraged up the ranks and from the late 1980s was manager of the Crinan Canal, using his practical and imaginative and human skills to great effect. In the years before he wangled early retirement, he was also manager of the Caledonian Canal. Following this, he was coordinator for people and communities coming together, supporting people in Mid Argyll and Kintyre.
