JOBS in Lochgilphead and Oban appear to be secure despite a builders’ merchant announcing hundreds of UK-wide redundancies.
Announcing the company’s latest financial performance figures last week, Travis Per-kins chief executive John Carter emphasised ‘uncertainty’ in the building trade market over the next year.
As a result, he said, Travis Perkins, which owns brands including Wickes and Tool-station, is to close 30 branches and make 600 employees redundant.
