Arran could be heading for a three-weekly cycle of bin collections after a similar move was approved by North Ayrshire Council for the mainland.
The proposals are part of major plans for an enhanced recycling and waste collection service and form part of the new overall Zero Waste Strategy 2018-2022.
The strategy aims to increase recycling to more than 60 per cent by 2020, to meet the Scottish Government’s Zero Waste Plan recycling targets. This target will increase further to 70 per cent by 2025.
