Last weekend eight members of the Arran Belles cycling club met to take part in a very different challenge.
Armed with torches, and led by Belle Annie Lloyd, they met at Cladach at 1am on Saturday June 30 and set forth by moonlight to climb Goatfell and witness the sunrise.
Janice Small takes up the story: ‘The night was warm but became colder the higher we climbed. We reached the summit in plenty time for sunrise at 4.41am. We were greeted by a stunning vista of low cloud base with the surrounding mountains surging through – absolutely stunning. In the peace and quiet, the sun slowly rose bathing us all in warm sunlight, we toasted each other and another beautiful day.
