The new season for Corrie Film Club begins with a poetic, poignant, moving and romantic story created by award winning director, Naomi Kawase. Still the Water is a 2014 Japanese romance film selected to compete for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
Kyoko is a 16-year-oldgirl falling in love with the boy next door, Kaito. She is also coping with the terminal illness of her mother finding solace in the tranquil waters surrounding their island community. Kaito too, is confronted with death and family turmoil – he finds a dead body on the beach and is overwhelmed by the confusion its mystery brings, taking it out on his struggling single mother.
As the mysteries of life, love, sex and death intertwine and unravel, Kaito and Kyoko will journey into adulthood.
