Journalist and broadcaster Jon Kean was a friend of the late Lady Jean Fforde for more than 40 years sharing a passion for pointer dogs. Here he gives a very personal appreciation of Lady Jean, who was the doyenne of pointers in this country and was known throughout the world.

‘I first met Lady Jean in the 1970s – appropriately enough it was on the grouse moors in Perthshire. Janette and I were there just to spectate at the field trial and find out more about working pointers and setters.
