Fine fun festival of sunshine and song

The sun shone and the music played as the Arran Folk Festival took centre stage last weekend.

For three days the terrace of the Douglas Hotel was transformed into a mass stage for the open sessions, and musicians and singers took turns to entertain the crowds – sometimes individually, usually, in the spirit of the festival, collaboratively with all manner of musical instruments.

All of which was overseen, in his own inimitable style, by ‘Uncle’ Keith Robertson.

Now in its 22nd year, the festival attracted local musicians and those who attend year after year, but there were also some new faces, and visitors came from across Europe and the four corners of the UK to attend.
