This year saw the 12th Arran Mountain Festival continue to be as popular as ever, with the increased diversity in the walks programme attracting 93 per cent of bookings being made prior to the festival weekend.
As ever, the philosophy of the festival remains focused on ‘small groups, great walks, huge fun’ and this year, by careful planning, selection and support, they were able to offer 20 walks for 156 participants. The quality and diversity of walks on offer ensured that they maintained the high standards of walker experience that the festival is renowned for.
In addition to the walks, the festival also provided mountain-themed events for visitors which included an art exhibition and guest speakers of the written and spoken word in an evening of poetry, recitals and anecdotes. And once again the Brodick Village Hall was jam-packed on the Saturday night as the Arranach Ceilidh Band attracted walkers, visitors and locals.
