Scottish Natural Heritage, which is behind the Arran Access Initiative that deals with access to landowners’ land, has prepared a consultation document for everyone to comment on.
The Isle of Arran Distillery at Lochranza will shortly be opening its visitor centre, which it hopes will be ready by Easter. With tours continuing over the winter and a planning application for a public house licence being considered, work is now in its final stages.

The move comes after Charles Fforde of Arran Estates tried to charge geology students for being on his land, which came to a head when large signs went up limiting walkers’ access to the hills.
