West Scotland Conservative MSP Jamie Greene has expressed concern over new figures that show that the rate of early re-admissions for intensive care patients in NHS Ayrshire and Arran was above the national average.
The report by the Scottish Intensive Care Society Audit Group (SICS) underlined that: ‘If patients are re-admitted to the unit within 48 hours after a previous discharge, it can be an indication that the first discharge was early.’
The figures show that NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s ICU re-admission rate within 48 hours was around 1.8 per cent compared to a national average of 1.3 per cent. It’s early discharge rate average around four per cent compared to a national average of two per cent.
