A celebration of island culture and performing arts, the popular festival is showcased over two summer months at venues in Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Sleat, and around the Isle of Skye.
Although the festival’s roots are firmly planted in the Celtic music tradition, events in theatre, dance, comedy, children’s shows, circus, literature and world music are also lined up for summer audiences.
This year’s trad events include concerts by Charlie McKerron, Saltf ish Forty, Fergie MacDonald, Adam Sutherland, Anzo Lorenzo, Alastair McCulloch, Skip Gorman, Routes Quartet, Mary Ann Kennedy and the Kaela Rowan Band.
Other highlights include concerts by the Scottish Ensemble; the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland present Rush Hour; Alasdair Fraser’s Mammoth Fiddle Night; Alan Bissett and his hilarious Moira Monologues and a murder mystery evening with three of Scotland’s most popular crime writers.
As well as the Fèis, there are many other events and exhibitions around the Island during the months of July and August and the festival atmosphere continues with a number of lively fringe events in Sleat. These include exhibitions of local arts and crafts, cèilidhs, house parties and concerts, charity cafés, as well as folk clubs, Scottish step dance and Gaelic classes, and open music and survival sessions.
