Arran will get a bird’s eye view of one of the largest tri-service and multinational military exercises of its kind in Europe when Exercise Joint Warrior gets under way at the weekend.
Running from today (Saturday) until May 4, the UK-led exercise is linked directly into the NATO military training exercise programme and provides NATO allies and partners with the opportunity to improve the tactics and procedures vital on today’s battlefield.

Thirty-nine naval units from 13 nations will take part, with many of them using maritime exercise areas off the west and northern coasts of Scotland.
Vessels from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK and the US practicing maritime skills such as anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and anti-air warfare in the Firth of Clyde with air support from HMS Gannet at Prestwick Airport.
