GP appointments are cut due to shortage of doctors

‘We want to be honest about the challenges that face our team over the next year’

The number of GP surgery and telephone appointments on Arran has been cut due to a lack of doctors.

Before August, the Arran Medical Group offered around 550 GP phone and surgery appointments per week, but this has been reduced to around 400, which will inevitably lead to patients having to wait longer to see a doctor. Patients are also being advised they may be offered an appointment at a surgery that would not be their first choice.
